The ACT Land Keepers


The ACT Land Keepers project was the winner of the Land and Biodiveristy Award in the 2009 Banksia Awards.


ACT Land Keepers is funded by the ACT and Australian Governments through the Caring for our Country Initiative and delivered by Greening Australian Capital Region.  ACT Land Keepers is a strong and effective partnership between government, community and science to achive results at the landscape scale.

The Project is delivered through 3 sub-projects:



  • Biodiversity Incentives - working with landholders to achieve on-ground conservation work on rural and non-urban land; 

  • Seeds for Survival - developing a community seedbank to help address the native seed supply needs of the ACT and region through coordination, education and training in seed collection;

  • Engaging Communities - involves community volunteers in on-ground native vegetation management including seed collection, seedling propagation and establishment;

Molonglo Catchment Group

Molonglo Catchment Group The Molonglo Catchment Group works largely in NSW and covers the catchments of the Molonglo and Queanbeyan Rivers, Jerrabomberra Creek and the urban areas of inner Canberra and Queanbeyan.

Ginninderra Catchment Group

Ginninderra Catchment GroupThe Ginninderra Catchment Group works in the urban areas of Belconnen, West Belconnen, Hall, Gunghalin, and the rural areas and nature reserves of the Ginninderra Creek catchment.

Southern ACT Catchment Group

Southern ACT Catchment Group The Southern ACT Catchment Group operates in the southern areas of the ACT covering Woden, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong, Tharwa, Tidbinbilla, the Cotter Road, Namadgi National Park and related rural areas.
