Healthy functioning ecosystems are a fundamental element of healthy functioning landscapes.  They are valuable in themselves and provide ecosystem services such as contributing to air and water quality, carbon sequestration, habitat function, amenity and cultural values.  

The Council with the assistance of the Caring for our Country Initiative, is investing in projects to address the decline of threathened species and restore and rehabilitate native habitat:

• Restoration of Sub-Alpine Sphagnum Peat Bogs
